Inter-library Loan

Mascoutah Public Library is a member of the Illinois Heartland Library System which connects us with libraries throughout the state of Southern Illinois and beyond.  If we do not own materials you need, we can borrow them from another library.  We will locate a specific book or magazine article for you, or you may submit a subject request.

Reference Service

Whenever possible, staff members will help patrons find answers to reference questions by leading them to appropriate materials for searching.  Phone reference calls are always welcome.

Voter Registration

You may register to vote or change your voter address at the library.

Computers for Public Use in the Library

7 stations are provided for Public Access to the Library Catalog, Internet Resources, or email.  3 computers are reserved in the teen room for children middle school through high school to use. We also have one iMac computer for use and laptops available for use if all computers are full. Each patron is allowed 2 hours per day on the computers.

Genealogists may use the computer located in the Microfilm Room for Family History research, including a search of the index to the beginning years of the Mascoutah Herald.

Teacher Services

Teachers at Mascoutah Elementary School or Holy Childhood School may request our Book Box service.  Made-to-order classroom collections on a subject, an author, or fiction can be selected according to your grade level or class size. These items must be checked out on the teacher’s personal library card. Once checked out the teacher is responsible for all items on their record.
