A Brief Introduction to Mascoutah

Mascoutah Public Library is a municipal library serving a population of 6,737. It is located just six miles away from Scott Air Force Base, with roughly 16,000 people directly attached to this base, and 25 miles from St. Louis, Missouri.

While Mascoutah is a thriving rural community with many residents having long-time family roots, it is unique in the fact that approximately 50% of its population consists of military personnel and their families transferring in from all over the world.

Mascoutah is a dynamic, ever-changing town with a diverse mix of people from a variety of ethnic, economic and educational backgrounds.
